I want to thank the 10 of you who checked in every day to see what was fun and free in the 510!  It has been a great ride, but alas it is over.  I’ve become very busy with trying to start a small business doing social media marketing for small business, so if you’re looking to release yourself from the time suck that is social media, get at me!  I recommend that if you are interested in maintaining the knowledge of what is free and fun in the 510 you visit and follow the Oakland Visitors and Convention Bureau, East Bay Loop and MyBart.org.  These websites have it going on and are always updating me with the information I passed along to you.  So goodbye my cyber friends, TTYL.

I’m not one to expound on politics but I did get a flyer from a mayoral candidate that had me thinking.  Don Perata is promoting his run for mayor by hosting clean up days throughout August.  While I can’t say I’ll vote for the guy, this is a good campaign strategy.

Date:
August 4, 2010 – 6:00pm – 9:15pm

Come celebrate the East Bay Bicycle Coalition’s new office and the opening of the Berkeley Bike Station (the second largest in the country!). Bike Station operator Alameda Bicycles and the Bicycle Coalition are teaming up for an open house party and movie night. On Wednesday August 4th, roll down, make use of the free valet bike parking, check out the multitude of bike racks and Alameda Bicycle’s show room, and help the Bicycle Coalition warm up our new digs. We’ll have food, locally brewed beer from Bison Brewing Co., and our new projector will be showing bikey films. Then, at 9:15, we’ll walk to a nearby movie theater to watch Inception together. The first 100 people who RSVP to the party will get a discounted ticket – only $3 – to the movie!

To RSVP, send an email with your name to jim (at)alamedabicycle(dot) com. Location: 2208 Shattuck Ave., Downtown Berkeley
